Meet Combé, a disabled widow who makes a living purchasing dried fish during high season, then selling her products at market the rest of the year. Combé is very financially responsible, and saves a portion of her income each month so that when high season rolls around, she has enough saved to make her annual purchase. However, a few months ago, Combé adult daughter suffered from complications during childbirth and needed an emergency c-section to save her life. The medical bills from this unexpected event wiped out Combé’s savings, and now high season is here. This week, Combé received a loan from the Kayoong Community microfinance, and together with her we worked out a repayment plan so that by next year, she will be both out of debt and have rebuilt part of her savings. Congratulations Combé!
